The American Foreign Service Association (AFSA), established in 1924, is both the
professional association and exclusive representative for the U.S. Foreign Service.
AFSA’s close to 16,800 members include active-duty and alumni/retired members
of the Foreign Service at the Department of State, the U.S. Agency for
International Development, Foreign Commercial Service, Foreign Agricultural
Service, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and U.S. Agency for Global
Media.
The AFSA Scholarship Program offers college aid to children of AFSA members
whose parents are/were Foreign Service employees. We provide financial aid
scholarships to undergraduates and academic merit awards, art merit awards, and
a community service award to graduating high school seniors.

Grade Conversion to U.S. Unweighted, 4.0 Scale
Instructions:
Please Follow these instuctions for better understanding.
Enter your courses and grades from schools that do not use the 4.0 scale. It is recommended you enter grades chronologically as to not miss any of your courses. If you are given a final grade for each semester of a class, use two entries (one for each semester). If you are given one cumulative grade for the entire year, you may only enter the class once.
The system is prepopulated to convert grades from U.S. weighted to unweighted, International Baccalaureate to U.S. 4.0 scale, U.K. most common* to U.S. 4.0 scale, and UK New GCSE to U.S. 4.0 scale using the dropdown under “Grading System”. *For U.K. most common, enter grades as a numerical value, not the honors designation
If your school does not use one of those systems, you will need to add a custom grading system. Add a custom grading system
To add a class from the same school, press the blue “same school” button. This will save time as the school name, country, and grading system will be prefilled for the next entry.
To add a class from a new school, press the “Add another course” button
Once finished, press the green “Calculate GPA” button
Note: For Pass (P) or Credit (CR) grades, enter "P". For No-Pass (NP) or No-Credit (NC) grades, enter 0.
Choose your school’s country using the dropdown at the top and the appropriate grading scale
Make sure under “Convert Grades”, “to US” is selected
On the right side of the page, a grade conversion table should appear
Using the information on the table, enter the local grade and its equivalent US Grade Point value following the format above.
Once finished, press the green "Add Custom System" button. The new grading system will then appear in the dropdown under “Grading System” when entering your coursework.
Click "Enter My Grades" to return to the top of the page.
→ Access a visual guide of finding your grading system on scholaro here.
